East Fishkill Police Chief Matthew Orsino Announces Retirement

After 22 years of dedicated service to the East Fishkill Police Department, Chief Matthew Orsino has announced his retirement to Town officials. Chief Orsino’s effective date of retirement is December 30, 2019.

Orsino has served as Police Chief for 2 years after being selected following the retirement of Chief Kevin Keefe.

The Chief’s efforts have focused on transforming East Fishkill’s Police Department into a 21st century model with an emphasis on transparency through overhauling the Departments policies and procedures. Under the Chief’s leadership, the Police Department has also engaged in a more collaborative approach to town wide initiatives such as community policing. Additionally, Chief Orsino was an instrumental leader with the Town Board in restoring the Police Departments canine division.

Chief Orsino has been a dedicated leader through his tenure.  He will be sorely missed by the Town, but I know he is looking forward to spending more time with his family and seeing what new opportunities in the community exist for him.

Also, after 24 years of dedicated service to the East Fishkill Police Department, Lieutenant Jon Wood has announced his retirement to Town officials.  Lieutenant Wood’s effective date of retirement is December 30, 2019.

Lieutenant Wood has been an asset in many different Police divisions.  Lieutenant Wood is a leader in department training, with special expertise with firearm training.

Lieutenant Wood will also be sorely missed and the Town of East Fishkill wishes him well with all his future endeavors.

The Town will initiate a recruitment process immediately to begin a search for a new chief. The process is anticipated to take several months.

Thank you,

Nicholas D’Alessandro
East Fishkill Town Supervisor
